Frequently Asked Workshop Questions
  • Do I have to attend every workshop? We hope you do attend every session, but illness and family vacations are a reality.

  • When does registration close? When we reach the maximum number, we will put your name on a waiting list.  Procrastinators will likely find they missed out on this summer's program. You can reserve a space by e-mailing  ruthasweet@cox.net  that your registration form and check is in the mail.

  • If I join the SDFSC by July 1, do I pay the non-member registration fee of $10?  You pay the $10 non-member registration fee unless you submit your membership application prior to May 31 which also allows us to waive the $10 Initiation fee (A total of $20). Please make a notation on the membership application that you are enrolling in the summer workshops.

  • Why is enrollment limited?  There is a maximum number of skaters that can be accommodated on the ice and effectively conduct the workshops.  We will establish a waiting list so we can substitute for missing skaters.

  • What happens if I am late for the on-ice part of a workshop? Try to be there on time, get your badge, and report to your color coded station. Remember, it may not be the same coach every time.

  • How will the on-ice activities be conducted? The format and content is being developed and will be posted in a few weeks.

  • Can I enroll in both summer workshops held at the SDIA and Kroc Rinks? Yes!

SDFSC-Enews.Org

A web site for figure skaters of all ages involved in
Basic Skating Skills and USFS Figure Skating programs

The information on this site is provided to support skater's efforts to
achieve their full potential in the pursuit of his/her skating goals, and to transfer
those skills to their future education, career, and other life activities.

Information is an important tool that provides a basis for the articles being developed. The goal is to help facilitate communications between judges and coaches that provides the technical descriptions  coaches use in their teaching and for judges the basis they use to arrive at the minimum standard for passing each level of tests.

Comments and suggestions are welcomed so a balance of different perspectives can be achieved. Input from coaches and judges will help to achieve a consensus. We hope our efforts will result in skaters who are well prepared to test and receive a uniform evaluation by judges from rink to rink.

San Diego Figure Skating Communications (SDFSC) goal is to provide information
that encourages participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating.

Articles are continiously under development to serve as reading/reference
materials for seminars with an audience of skaters, parents, coaches, and judges.

Suggestions and comments from rink management, coaches,
choreographers, judges, skaters, and parents are welcomed.
