Figure Skating is composed of a diverse group of activities
      Figure skating encompasses a wide range of interests for skaters with a range of skills and ages from the recreational skater to the hard core dedicated competitive skater who may be involved in  following disciplines of figure skating:
  • Free Skating
  • Pair Skating
  • Ice Dancing
  • Competitive school figure skating teams
  • Synchronized Team Skating
  • Artistic and Interpretive Skating
  • Showcase
  • Theater On Ice
      A "recreational skater" is anyone who figure skates for fun and personal pleasure. The involvement in ice skating does not dominate a person's private time that is not involved in acquiring an education, pursuing full or part-time employment, and/or family responsibilities."

      The United States Figure Skating Association involves skaters of all ages and skills who take tests and compete in non qualifying and qualifying competitions that ultimately result in skaters being selected to represent the USA in international, world, and Olympic Championships.
