Developing Personality Traits

What constitutes an individual's Personality?
When we refer to someone as having a  "good personality", it is generally accepted that they are likable, interesting, and pleasant to associate with in a social, school, career, family, or job setting.

A good personality is a result of how well you interact with others. A person's physical appearance - beauty; hair color and style, over weight, clothing, voice mannerisms, etc. - can cause people to form an initial and superficial opinion. Unfortunately, this impression does not include any direct input from observing and interacting with the person.

It is possible to enhance how an individuals feels about them self by changing hair color, style, and/or a hair piece, In some cases cosmetic surgery can make physical changes that change a person's appearance.  Our ability to improve our personality offers the possibility of developing or integrating positives traits we have the motivation to incorporate into our life skills.

It is possible to change your personality
Until quite recently it was believed that personality is permanent.  William James, the famous Harvard psychologist, wrote in 1890 his book The Principles of Psychology, that personality was "set in plaster" by early adulthood. This view prevailed for over a century; however, in the late 20th and early 21st century, the idea that personality is more fluid has gained wide acceptance. Social scientists agree that we have the ability to influence and control the traits and characteristics that we want to develop, refine, or change.

Have a positive outlook and attitude
No one wants to be forced to associate with individuals who are negative, complain a lot, or have nothing good to say!  Most of us will try to avoid situations that are constantly filled with tension that these individuals radiate. If give a choice, we will choose to associate with the upbeat person whose smile lights up a room with positive energy.  Look at yourself and take a frank appraisal -  does your smile spread positive feelings and do others welcome your presence?

Stress Your Uniqueness
Don't attempt to be a carbon copy of someone else!  Be authentic by stressing what is unique about yourself.  It is the uniqueness is what makes us interesting. Don't attempt to be an authority on every subject. Be a good listener. People find it refreshing that you take an interest in their life and interests. Provide others with the encouragement and support that you would like to receive.

Remember that within any activity or sport it is probably to play down your talent if you want to make a good impression. However, in a casual situation, your mention of your passion for participating in an activity or sport, can be an excellent ice breaker and your self-confidence can make a favorable impression.

We have the power and ability to shape our personalities. As we develop in our pursuit of achieving our full potential, we contribute to our own happiness and to those who we share our lives with.  We have the ability to use self-reflection and work hard to change our personality into one that will be attractive to people.

A Positive Mindset is Essential for Changes to occur
The way we think is the foundation of our personality development. It is necessary to avoid even the slightest negative thoughts and replace them with positive images, feelings, experiences, and attitudes. The substitution of positive thoughts, over a period of months or years, can replace an existing negative subconscious mindset.

Are you in a rut? Do follow the same routine each workday, week after week and month after month? We you have a set menu for each day of the week? Following the same routines allows your personality development to stagnate as we remain in our comfort zone without the opportunity to acquire new experiences and impressions that stimulate and challenge our expectations.

You will able to improve and change your lifestyle if you spend your time on focused activities. TV is an unfocused activity. In addition it is necessary to have a good attitude and a supportive attitude that supports improving and developing the individuality required to make positive changes in your personality development.  Negative changes occur quickly and without conscious thoughts when you lose your positive focus and negativity permeates throughout your daily activities.

It is much easier to focus on things that you are passionate about. You will be more engaged and focused on the things you really love to do. Especially if the tasks in your personal and/or professional life are both challenging and inspiring.

A person whose is unmotivated and has a pessimistic attitude will rarely be successful.  Negative mindsets and behaviors prevent us from achieving success. This is not a question of having a streak of "bad" luck.
