Pairs Free Skating Test & Competition Requirements

       Pairs Free Skating consists of a Short and Long Programs. The Short Program is the first of two phases in the pair competitions.

       The programs consist of the following elements:
  • Individual technical elements performed solo
    • spins
    • jumps
    • footwork
  • Performance components
    • choreography
    • interpretation/artistic expression
    • skating skills
    • performance and execution
    • transitions
        A strong background in free skating, especially multi-revolution jumps, is highly recommended for anyone wishing to skate competitively in qualifying pair events.
