Intercollegiate Skating Programs

NOTE: There is a collegiate USFS membership available for full-time student that provides
a reduced rate for a period of 4 years that can be purchased through your home club for a
sum $70, which is a 66 percent discount from a full membership for four years. It carries
the same privileges as a full membership, including a subscription to SKATING magazine,
and testing and competition privileges. Figure skating clubs and parents can gift this mem- bership to graduating high school seniors so that they will stay connected to their home
club and U.S. Figure Skating

There are more than 75 schools with skating programs and more than 45 synchronized skating teams representing colleges. There are many competitive collegiate skating opportunities for people who have different skating backgrounds.

Note: Information about existing intercollegiate or synchronized skating team has been provided directly from the colleges. Please contact them with questions. The majority of the clubs are run by students, and, in most cases, scholarship money is not available specifically for figure skating.

USFS Coordinator, Athlete Development   Kelli Evers,  p: 719.635.5200     eMail

As a graduating high school figure skater, you may continue to represent your USFS home club and enter USFS sponsored events or if enrolling as a fulltime college or university student, you may elect to participate in various events representing your college in synchronized team skating or as a single skater, pair or dance couple as part of a collegiate team. For more information refer to - Collegiate Team Skating Programs.

Below you will find a list of colleges or universities registered for the 2011–12 season.

Each school description will provide a contact person who can provide more information about their figure skating program, plus how much funding the school gives to the entire organization each year.

San Diego Figure Skating Communications
SDFSC-Enews.Org

A web site for figure skaters of all ages involved in
Basic Skating Skills and USFS Figure Skating programs

The information on this site is provided to support skater's efforts to
achieve their full potential in the pursuit of his/her skating goals, and to transfer
those skills to their future education, career, and other life activities.

Information is an important tool that provides a basis for the articles being developed. The goal is to help facilitate communications between judges and coaches that provides the technical descriptions  coaches use in their teaching and for judges the basis they use to arrive at the minimum standard for passing each level of tests.

Comments and suggestions are welcomed so a balance of different perspectives can be achieved. Input from coaches and judges will help to achieve a consensus. We hope our efforts will result in skaters who are well prepared to test and receive a uniform evaluation by judges from rink to rink.

San Diego Figure Skating Communications (SDFSC) goal is to provide information
that encourages participation and achievement in the sport of figure skating.

Your comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
