Solo Dancing Events
Dancing can be a solo activity There is a general lack of male partners to serve as social, test, and competitive dance partners. The development of the solo dance structure allows a skater to develop their dancing skills without having the added expense of having a professional proper their tests. There also is the opportunity to compete against other solo male and female dancers. Anyone who has taken Standard Dance tests may crossover and immediately begin to take Solo Dance tests. The Standard Solo Dance test structure does not have age restrictions; however, tests may be taken as an Adult or Masters level which allow lower scores to pass the tests. Skaters may opt to take tests a standard and then change to adult or masters without retaking the previously passed tests. If after taking Solo Dance tests, a skater who desires to take Standard Dance tests must go back to the previous test level that they had previously passed. A skater generally can compete in dance events with a partner and as a solo dancer in most “Open Competitions”. Be sure to check the competition announcement requirements. Solo Dance events usually accept Solo or Standard Dance tests to allow skaters to enter or to exclude the skater from entering a Solo Dance competition event.
